It was close, but we have our first quiet year since Jabril came to Siwa, which is a welcome change of pace. 

Spring 1223

After collecting his usual Vim vis and his personal source, Jabril continued to work on his yogurt spell, experimenting with it as he did. Rolled 8+1 for experimental bonus (pushing the risk factor), giving us 14 more points of progress this season, and roll a 5+1 on the Extraordinary Results table: the spell acquires a side effect. Rolling on the side effect table gives us a 9: major side benefit! Luck is really on my side this year. 

Jabril put a great deal of inventive effort into his work this season, and seemed indeed to be touched by some great force of inspiration, working out a way to finish his spell design by the time summer came. Near the end of his research, an accidental miscalculation led to a noticeable improvement in the quality, flavor, and nourishment of the jameed created by the spell. As long as Jabril can succeed the Finesse check, the jameed created has a deeply complex and delicious flavor, and one ball can nourish a grown man for a full day, even without being prepared with water. 

Despite being finished with his spell design, Jabril elects not to cast it until he can study both his Finesse tractati.

Creates 3,000 pounds of jameed balls (dried, strained buttermilk yogurt) with a successful Perception+Finesse check (Ease Factor 6), worth 1 Mythic Pound per 3 pounds of jameed. Thanks to an extraordinary result, this spell produces particularly delicious and nourishing jameed, with one ball able to sustain an adult man for a full day. 

In Jabril ex Miscellanea’s version of the spell, each ball is stamped with his sigil, an ouroboros. (Base 10, +1 Touch, +2 Group)

Summer and Autumn 1223

Jabril spent both seasons studying Finesse, gaining 21 xp overall from his two tractati (he immediately sent them out into the Redcap network for an Animal tractatus and a Parma Magica one of equal value). This raised his Finesse to 3, and he felt confident enough to attempt the ritual. Rolled 3+3=6, barely making the Ease Factor, but making it nevertheless. With 5 pawns of Animal still left over, including last year’s gains, he cast Boundless Wealth as well, leaving him with 3 pawns. 

Two traders and four teamsters were hired by the covenant for 60 mythic pounds, one team to hawk jameed to passing caravans, the other to trade pearls in Alexandria. With a large new influx of wealth this year, 15 pounds turned to BP were used to swap our Poverty Hook for a new, more appropriate one: Regional Produce. Siwa Oasis is beginning to be well-known for the high-quality jameed produced here, as well as an unusual source of pearls. 50 pounds turned to BP were used to immediately build a new standard laboratory in the Hill of the Dead without needing time. Finally, seven more servants and another shield grog were hired for 80 pounds.

 The turb was divided: five of the zaggaleh, led by Ahmad, remain at Aghurmi to protect the main site, while the new grog, named Daoud, leads the other five in guarding the Hill of the Dead. Even with this new organization, the temple at Aghurmi has filled up, and Jabril resolved to seek housing in Siwa for any new covenfolk. The covenfolk overall were also reorganized under a militocratic structure, with Ahmad and Daoud jointly serving as leaders beneath Jabril. 

With a staff now of thirty, including his large turb, Jabril felt satisfied with the prosperity and population of his covenant, and finally felt free to focus on his studies, now hoping to invent a Moon duration version of Commanding the Harnessed Beast. 

Winter 1223

This season, Jabril spends time studying his exceptional Rego summa in the shadow of the Stele, while having the temple turb patrol in an orderly fashion around him and the servants work to keep the temple as tidy as possible.
