1228 AD: Another Quiet Year

Another quiet year, which is nice given my need to study.

Spring 1228

At the beginning of the year, Jabril examined his circumstances. He wanted to get his Corpus to an acceptable level and perform his first longevity ritual by the winter, but this also had another purpose. His exploration of the regio had been dangerous and difficult so far, and he still needed to light flames in the other two shadow temples to hopefully cleanse that other place. In order to do that safely, he reasoned, he would need to devise a good healing ritual, of which there were a few still somewhat beyond his capabilities among his lab texts. 

And so, before he again ventured in, he needed to keep studying corpus, spending two pawns of vis.

Vis study: rolled 1, reroll 8 for total of 18+3+2=23 xp, bringing Corpus to 10!

Summer 1228

Not wanting to let up, Jabril doubled down on his Corpus vis study this year, planning to perform his first longevity ritual next season. He spent 3 vis.

Study xp: Rolled 4+3+2=9 xp to Corpus, which sadly is just 2 xp below what we need for 11.

Autumn 1228

Jabril finally began working on his longevity ritual. It was a bit unusual to begin so early in his Hermetic lifespan, but he had so far proven to be a precocious young magus and had absolutely no desire to have children, so the side effect of sterility meant nothing to him. As he was not studying, he did not need to use the lower aura Hill laboratory for the ritual, bringing his CrCo lab total to 7+10+4+3=24. The ritual at base would require 7 pawns of vis, and he currently had 11 Corpus. Unfortunately, his vis use limit in the laboratory is currently 8, so he can’t increase his total bonus. His overall bonus became +5.

Jabril devised a special incense drawn from local herbs, mixing in crushed vis and spending a few days at the end of autumn suffusing his laboratory with the medicinal smoke. The change was not profoundly overwhelming, but he could feel a difference to be sure.

Winter 1228

Jabril decided to stay home this year and not go to the Grand Tribunal, given how far it was from Siwa and how much work he needed to do. Instead, he spent the winter learning Chirurgeon’s Healing Touch from one of his lab texts.
