Who is the Serpent of Siwa?

 Jabril ex Miscellanea is an Arab Beast Master and Hermetic Magus. 27 years old, he passed his Gauntlet four years ago and became a voting member of the Levant Tribunal, with the distinctive voting sigil of a golden ouroboros. A native of Damietta, Jabril spent very little time there, as he was sold at the age of two by his impoverished parents to his parens, Rolf, a German Beast Master and Egyptophile with an uncompromising nature. Rolf abandoned the boy in the deep desert wilderness, as is the wont of the Beast Masters, remaining nearby to observe him in secret. Although there were many close calls, Jabril bonded with several of the asps of the desert, learning how to communicate with them and coax them into bringing him food and water. Despite all odds, the young boy was able to survive and even prosper, completely isolated from human contact. 

At the age of eight, Rolf returned and took Jabril to the Pyramids, where, although he was a wandering eremite, the German had a sanctum and laboratory thanks to past work for the cult of Ra. There, and on frequent journeys to the great desert, Jabril learned the Hermetic Arts, as well as the methods of Rolf’s own tradition of beast calling. But like many beast masters, Jabril grew up warped by his early isolation, never fully mastering a language and prone to fits of rage when provoked. Nevertheless, he proved both curious and calm enough to attract the attention of Rolf’s own superiors in the Neo-Mercurians, and, while he has not yet been initiated into the secrets of Mercurian magic, he remains linked to the cult to this day. 

During his apprenticeship, he grew to greatly dislike Rolf and much of the company of other magi for their political scheming and often, cruelty. Jabril found himself longing for a place of his own, but could never quite bring himself to leave Rolf. Despite his disdain for the old man, he was the closest thing Jabril had to a parent. And so even after his Gauntlet, he stayed near Rolf at the Pyramids, wiling away the hours. That is, until a season ago, when Rolf unexpectedly entered Final Twilight during a wilderness scuffle with bandits. This has given Jabril motivation to set off, some of his master’s possessions in hand, to seek his own place. Where better than Siwa Oasis, where great Alexander once sought guidance?
